Emotionally Detached Regression

We are all unique individuals and differ in so many ways.  It’s no surprise then, that we also differ in the manner of how we emotionally cope with the tragedies and traumas we experience. Although some people are able to intellectually examine and deal with their issues, in many other cases the trauma one has experienced may have been so terrible that the victim simply cannot emotionally deal with confronting it again, even in therapy. In such dramatic situations the terror they feel about revisiting the event may cause that they never receive the very therapy which could improve their condition. Fortunately, for those specific situations Clinical Hypnosis has several highly effective techniques which spare clients any added trauma and are very successful in treating their presenting issues. All of these methods fall under the heading of Emotionally Detached Regression or EDR. The following explains my usual method for treating such powerful traumas

In our initial meeting, we will thoroughly discuss your fears and challenges to be sure I fully understand both them and the difficulties they are creating in your life. Then, after explaining in much greater detail what hypnosis is and how it works, I will help you enter a very peaceful, very comfortable hypnotic state using a series of deeply relaxing mental exercises.

After you are completely relaxed – which is what hypnosis really is – we will construct in your mind a “safe haven” or “sanctuary,” where you will not only feel, but truly be emotionally safe and protected.  This sanctuary is a mental refuge will use in your therapy and to which you will always be able to return – even when you are not hypnotized – to help you control your stress and anxiety.

I will then ask your subconscious a few questions to discover whether you are emotionally able to examine the root causes of the issues you are struggling with. If I determine you are able to confront them head on, we will go to work on them using hypnotic methods that enable you to feel and experience the emotions attached to the trauma, empower you to alter and recast them, and finally allow you release them and let them go. That release decouples the negative emotional energies from their associated memories and allows you to discard them.  From that point on, although you will be able to remember the events of the trauma, you will not be crippled by them.  They will be part of your experience, but will hold no power to disrupt your life any longer.

If I determine the trauma is still too painful for you to emotionally work with, I will use one or more emotionally detached methods to help you remove them without creating or having you experience any additional trauma. We move very slowly and cautiously, ensuring that you only deal with what you are capable of at that time, and slowly and safely desensitize the trauma. We never go faster than you are able.

The hypnotic methods of Emotionally Detached Regression have repeatedly been shown to be very effective at helping people confront and deal with severe emotional trauma and PTSD. And, as a pleasant bonus, they works remarkably quicker than other methods of therapy.  If you are emotionally suffering from a past trauma, I invite you to call me and begin your healing.
